Dr Pedro Diaz, B Med (Hons), FANZCA
Dr Diaz grew up in Newcastle and completed his medical degree with Honours at the University of Newcastle. He undertook his anaesthesia training in South Australia and was awarded the Renton Prize for achieving the highest result for the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists Primary Fellowship Examination. He completed his Anaesthesia Fellowship in Adelaide at the Flinders Medical Centre with a focus on Ultrasound Guided Regional Anaesthesia.
Since 2009, Dr Diaz has been employed as a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist at the John Hunter Hospital and holds VMO appointments at multiple private hospitals in the Newcastle area. He is also an Examiner for the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
He has a particular interest in providing quality anaesthetic care for patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery. He is one of the few Anaesthetists in Newcastle (and Australia) that has the expertise to offer outpatient perineural nerve block catheters for postoperative pain management.

Dr Georgia Stefanko, MBChB (Dist), FANZCA
Dr Stefanko is a specialist anaesthetist who completed her medical degree at the University of Otago in New Zealand, graduating first in her class. In the same year, she received the Prince of Wales Prize for most outstanding student at the University of Otago completing an undergraduate degree.
After this, she undertook specialist training in anaesthesia with the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA). She received a merit award for the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists Primary Fellowship Examination. This program saw her working and training at a number of hospitals in New Zealand and Australia including Dunedin Public Hospital, Middlemore Hospital (Auckland), Prince of Wales Hospital (Sydney) and Port Macquarie Base Hospital in regional New South Wales. Her final year of training in 2010 was at John Hunter Hospital, and she has remained based in Newcastle as a specialist anaesthetist since then.
In 2012, she spent one year in Dublin, Ireland, working at the Sports Surgery Clinic - a private hospital predominantly focused on the perioperative care of sportspeople.
She has special interests in regional anaesthesia, perioperative medicine and orthopaedic surgery and has completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Ultrasound from the University of Melbourne.
When not working, she spends her time with her two young kids and husband, Jai, and occasionally gets to indulge her other passions of running, reading, wine and learning French.
Dr Andrew Brunton
Born and raised in the Hunter Valley, Dr Andrew Brunton graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2007. Working for the next 5 years in the Hunter New England Area Health Service he gained experience in General and Plastic Surgery as a Surgical Registrar. He then commenced General Practice training while also assisting orthopaedic surgeons. He currently works as a skin cancer doctor at Newcastle Skin Check and assists Dr Kumar every week.
Dr Emma Campbell
Emma is a local GP with interests in Lifestyle Medicine and Women's Health. She knows that 70% of her patient's health problems relate to poor diet and lifestyle habits and an obesity-inducing environment. Emma is passionate about empowering people to make better choices about what they eat, how they move, and how they think. She works with her patients to enable them to life their best lives. Emma also works as a Surgical Assistant to Dr Kumar as she really enjoys the practical challenges and diversity of the operating theatre environment and the opportunity to work with her hands as well as her head.
